The Sokoto State Scholarship Board has announced the commencement of its verification exercise for newly admitted and returning scholarship beneficiaries for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The update was released in an official statement dated 18 December 2025 and applies strictly to indigenes of Sokoto State currently studying in selected tertiary institutions.
The verification exercise is a compulsory step for students who wish to continue benefiting from state scholarship support.
Schools Covered in the Verification Exercise
According to the board, the verification applies only to students enrolled in the following institutions:

Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUSOK)

Shehu Shagari College of Education
(Affiliated with UDUSOK and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria) -
Shehu Shagari University of Education
-
Sokoto State University
Students from other institutions are advised not to attend at this time.
Verification Dates and Schedule
The verification will be conducted in stages as follows:
UDUSOK Students

Date: Monday, 5 January – Saturday, 10 January 2026

Venue: UDUSOK Campus

Time: 8:00 a.m. daily
Sokoto State University Students

Date: Monday, 26 January – Saturday, 31 January 2026

Venue: Sokoto State University Campus

Time: 8:00 a.m. daily
Students are advised to arrive early, as late attendance may delay or affect verification.
Documents Required for the Sokoto State Scholarship Board Verification
All students must attend the screening with both originals and photocopies of the following documents:

Completed scholarship application form

Academic results
-
Indigene letter
-
Admission confirmation letter

National Identification Number (NIN) slip

School fees invoice and Remita, or proof of registration payment
Failure to present complete documentation may result in disqualification or delays.
Update on Other Institutions
The board noted that verification dates and venues for students of:

Shehu Shagari University of Education

Shehu Shagari College of Education (Affiliated with UDUSOK and ABU Zaria)
will be announced later. Students from these institutions are advised to wait for further official communication.
